Published in the August/September 2014 edition of Fencing & Landscaping News, was details of last month’s UK Fencing Championships. As an important event in the industry, many people attended the competition to see who would win the coveted 1st place spot.
The awards took place at the Driffield show on 16th July and saw two new judges decide the ultimate winners and runners up. Gary Batley, previous winner and judge from the Tornados competition, alongside Charlie Parker who has been running his own successful fencing contractor business for over 30 years, commented on the very high standard of competitors this year.
7 teams of 2 entered this year but it was ultimately Tim Bennett Fencing who got top spot with MJ Evans and Mike Ford Fencing following close behind. For the event, a 40m post and wire fence with a 3.6m filed gate was erected, using Hampton Steel wire and Calder’s and Grandidge posts and gates. Other sponsors included WJ Components, M&M Timber, Lonza and Osmose.
