If you’re a fan of motor racing in this country, you will know all about the popular track days and meets at the Mallory Park track. Situated on a massive 200 acre estate in Leicestershire, it has been home to many famous races over the years and continues to draw huge crowds of spectators throughout the racing calendar.
Our Financial Director, Mike Webb has been racing for a number of years with his AVS sponsored Ford Focus.
On the 4th August, the same weekend of the Classic Touring Car Racing Club’s Autoglym Festival, Mike was racing this particular car for the first time, with a brand new engine, in over a year.
Mike qualified 2nd, (front row of grid) and also finished Race 1 on the podium, with 2nd overall. He achieved first in class, whilst impressively beating all but 1 of the bigger, turbo and 4 wheel drive cars.
moment due to the road surface and slipped back from 1st in class to 3rd in class. But in an amazing feat of determination, he managed to claw back to a position of 2nd in class to finish 6th overall.
This achievement is even more impressive when you consider how unusual it is for a B Class 2000cc car to be on the podium, considering the size and power of the other vehicles competing that day.
