AVS Ashford - Beaver Green Primary School

Beaver Green Primary School, near to our AVS Ashford branch, was planning a Forest School within their grounds to encourage outdoor learning and activity. But there was one problem - no budget to fence the area off safely.

Beaver Green approached AVS with their problem, and as part of our community charity programme we were glad to help.  AVS Ashford donated 150m of our Chestnut Cleft Fencing and 50 bags of post mix concrete to finish the job.

Chloe Dalton from Beaver Green Primary School said "Forest schools have been established for a very long time in some Scandianvian countries and now schools in the UK have realised how important they can be in developing wellbeing, positivity, good health, a sense of fun and adventure, resilience and risk-taking plus lots more. At the Beaver Green forest school they encourage the children to climb trees, build dens, learn safe firelighting skills, learn to cook on the fire, use a variety of tools such as bow saws and palm drills and learn how to care for our environment."

Matt Coote, Manager of AVS Ashford commented "This is exactly the sort of local community project that we like to support. It's so important for kids to learn outdoor skills, and the lockdown has shown us all how valuable it is to appreciate time outdoors."
