Timber Decking

Timber decking is a great addition to any garden, with timber decking you can extend your living area by creating an outdoor area that is connected with the indoor living area. By fitting your timber decking to the rear of your property this can enable you to walk straight onto your timber decking perhaps through a conservatory or the like. For other properties it may be appropriate to situate your timber decking at the bottom of the garden where perhaps this area catches the afternoon sunlight or maybe the garden slopes away and by creating timber decking you can actually make a larger area of your garden useable because you can convert the sloping area of your garden to a level, useful area for timber decking which is ideal for socialising or for having family meals on. There is nothing nicer than sitting on a timber decking area on a summers evening having a BBQ or drinks with family and friends around. Your timber decking area can be a great socialising area.
Timber decking only needs a little maintenance its best to keep your timber decking swept off and to clean it periodically, perhaps once a year so it retains that just laid look, your timber decking area can be cleaned with decking cleaner this will remove the grime that accumulates on the timber and the timber decking boards will look new and pristine again and your timber decking will be just as good as the day it was fitted. You will see on the website a number of different options for treated decking boards.

Decking Boards

You will see there are options for smooth decking boards with the Canterbury deckboard and with the AVS Fencing deckboard. These two boards are reversible and on the one side they are smooth and on the other side they are reeded or grooved. It used to be thought that timber decking could be slightly slippery when it is wet and to be fair this is correct although of course most of the time when we choose to use the timber decking it is when the sun is shining and everything is dry so this is not normally a major problem. It has lead to people choosing deck boards that are profiled with grooves or reeds machined into the decking boards to try and overcome the decking being slippery. However, in my experience this doesn’t make an awful difference and today AVS Fencing are able to sell decking that’s got anti-slip inserts added to part of the decking board which make these boards ideal for the tops of steps and certain areas of the deck where one would be more prone to slip. So we have seen a return to smooth decking and smooth timber decking is the latest timber decking fad. So if our choice is smooth timber decking you can purchase your products here on line in the AVS Fencing on line shop.

Decking Screws

Fixing your deck boards to create your timber decking is something that is best done with our range of decking screws, decking screws are designed especially to fix deck boards to your timber decking without in the case of treated softwood decking boards having to pre-drill the decking to accept the screws, the decking screws are designed to penetrate the decking and fix the decking board firmly to the timber decking joist below.
