Straining post for paddock livestock fencing. Used for all ends, corners and changes of direction in the fence run. Strained wire fencing such as barbed wire fencing, stock fencing or dog fencing is often used with chestnut fence straining posts as the fence must be erected in straight lines between straining posts, these are dug into the ground where the fence changes direction.
Straining posts are fitted with either one or two chestnut struts to support the chestnut fence straining post, preventing it from leaning over when the fence wire is tightened up.
To support the fence between the straining posts, set out smaller chestnut fencing stakes at between 2.5 - 3.6m apart.
