Instructions

This bed comprises of two assemblies and is essentially a bed surround sitting on a table.

Start by constructing the table

Build the Table Sides

Take three of the table legs (520mm lengths of 75x75mm timber) and two table sides (lengths of 1800mm timber 1 @150mm wide and 1 @100mm wide). Lay the table legs on the ground and lay the table sides on top. Fix a table leg at each end of the sides and one in the centre.  Fix the 150mm table side flush with the top and the 100mm table side 75mm up from the bottom of the legs.

Complete both Table Ends

Use four lengths of timber in total (two for each end) these are 895mm long timbers, 150mm & 100mm wide to match the sides.

Simply stand up the sides and attach the 895mm long timbers to form the ends.

Fix the table top supporting centre rail

This is 1800mm long half round timber. Fix between the table ends, ensuring the flat face is upper most and flush with the top of the ends and sides ready to receive the table top boards.

Add the Table Top Boards

Fix the 12no 150mm boards to form the deck, starting about 15mm in should give you an even spacing – you may want to lay them out to get the spacing correct before fixing.

Now build the Bed Surround

Do this on the ground or if you have a helper it may be constructed on top of the table.

Start with the 1800mm long sides, lay out three half rounds side by side. Have to hand the three lengths of 300mm 50x50mm timber used to join the sides together; these are fixed two at the ends and one in the centre for each raised bed side.

It may aid fixing if you mark a line 50mm in from each end and two other lines 875mm from each end to locate the positions of the 50x50 timbers. Now layout the 50x50 timbers and fix with one nail centrally to each rail, then turn over and fix two more nails to each junction.

Complete the Bed Ends

Using the six lengths of 800mm half round timber, join the side together by standing up the sides and attaching the 800mm long timbers to form the ends.

Finally use the six 200mm blocks to fix the bed surround onto the table.
