ADDITIONAL MESHES

Chainlink fencing and stock fencing can be added to post and rail fences to make them stock proof for smaller farm animals or dogs. It is recommended that 800 - 900mm high mesh be used which will bring the mesh to just below the top rail. 1200mm high mesh can be used if the fence is erected slightly higher than normal, the only downside being the fact that the mesh can be seen above the top rail, it is therefore slightly more unsightly.

OAK POSTS

This traditional post is commonly used with the hardwood cleft Chestnut rails.

CLEFT RAILS

Chestnut is the standard timber used for rails. Oak may also be used for rails to special order, however there are some drawbacks. Availability is at times poor, Oak rails tend to be very splintery and cost more than Chestnut. Oak rails are not listed on the website. Price on application.

CORNERS

For corners we can provide a number of options. It is suggested you tell us the number of corners you have when you checkout.

MORTICE DETAIL

Our standard method which is easier for the erector is to provide a double mortice so that each rail has its own mortice. Other options can be provided, please ask.

POST TOPS

Two way weathered tops and back weathered tops are the most common types of post tops used, although some people choose to leave them flat. The advantage of weathered tops being to run excess water off the posts, but it is all down to personal preference. Remember the type of top will need to be specified during the checkout procedure if you want something different from our normal two way top.
