Weldmesh

Weldmesh (Light)

When using machine round or peeled and treated posts, strainer posts should be back rammed into the ground and intermediate posts should be driven in.

Back ramming is done by digging a hole only a little larger in width than the fence post you are supporting, placing the post in the hole and then backfilling with soil and ramming to support the fence post. The soil should be back filled and rammed bit by bit rather than all at once to ensure a good hold.

This method of securing the post is not suggested if the ground you are securing the post into is soft or loose.

After the posts are installed, line wires are strung out between the strainer posts by simply tying around the strainer posts and tensioning them using a wire tensioning tool. Another method is to drill the strainer posts and use eyebolts to tension the wire. Line wires are attached to the intermediate posts using staples.

Once the line wires are in place the weldmesh can be clipped to the line wires using netting clips and strained at either end by simply pulling it tight, wrapping it almost all the way around the strainer post and stapling it in place.

When installing weldmesh the bottom 150mm/6” can be buried at an angle to prevent the rabbits from digging underneath.

When using as an aviary mesh, installation would vary depending on the structure the mesh is being attached to.

If in doubt contact a qualified engineer.

Weldmesh (Heavy)

Weldmesh can traditionally be installed in two ways.

The first is to use Angle Iron posts.

These are installed by concreting in the strainer posts and simply driving in the intermediate posts.

Strainer posts should be used at ends, corners, every 50m or at any change in direction off of a straight run. All strainer posts require struts, the number of depends on which type of strainer is being used. For a corner two are required, and an end, one.

Line wires are then strung between the strainer posts using ferrule winders that come with the strainer posts. The wire should be attached to the intermediate posts by either threading them through the holes provided or by using stirrup wires/ty wire.

The weldmesh is attached by clipping it to the line wires, (one clip every 6”/150mm approx) and strained using the stretcher bars, which are attached to the strainer posts.

The second is to use concrete posts.

All of the concrete posts need to be concreted into the ground.

Line wires are then strung between the strainer posts using eyebolts.

The weldmesh is attached by clipping it to the line wires, and strained using the stretcher bars, which are attached by bolting them to the angle cleats using M8x30 bolts.

When using as a security locker, installation would depend on the selected framework.
