Erecting Picket Fencing & Fence Panels

How to erect Picket Fencing Panels

Our most popular size is the 900mm high, round top picket fence panel which can be erected using a 1.20M long section of 75 x 75mm posts. Available as a 2.4M long fence post cut to produce 2no 1.20M posts. Installing the fence post by setting the fence post 150mm below the top of the picket fence with the rest dug into the gound and held in place with post mix.

For a 1200mm high picket fence panel, buy a 1800mm long fence post.

Joining the Picket Fence panel to the post

Here you have a choice. The picket fence panels have the right length of rail projecting at each end to butt together where they fix to the post and then have a loose picket pale nailed over the joint. A panel consists of thirteen pales. The other option that does not require any additional pales is to cut approx. 38mm off each end of each rail before fitting and this will mean that when the picket fence is complete the gaps by each fence post will be correct.
