Help Understanding Closeboard & Lap Panel Fencing?

What are the Benefits of Lap Panel Fencing?

Lap panels are a very popular type of screen fence often used in rear gardens. The initial capital cost is the lowest of all solid screen fences available, however life expectancy is less than fences such as closeboard. Lap panels are not suitable for exposed locations or sloping ground. Cutting the last panel to length is fairly straightforward.

The most common is the medium weight panel, these are usually described as fully framed, meaning they have a timber batten around the outside edge; some lighter panels do not have a batten covering the bottom.

Lap panels are available in a number of common heights; 3ft, 4ft, 5ft and 6ft.

What are the Benefits of Closeboard Fencing Using Arris Rails?

Closeboard fencing using arris rails is constructed with featheredge boards and erected using a rail framework. The benefits of closeboard fencing using arris rails is that it''s a very flexible fencing style as its charactertics can be changed to suit almost any circumstance.

Other benefits of closeboard fencing using arris rails is it is ideal for sloping ground. Traditional design can be strong and long lasting and on-site assembly means that there is no heavy panels to lift.

What is Lap Panel Fencing?

Lap panels are made using slats that run horizontally across a frame, with vertical battens to hold them in place and give additional strength.

Lap fence panels are suitable for many domestic applications, giving privacy and security at a modest cost.

What is Closeboard Panel Fencing?

Closeboard fence panels are similar to lap panels, but with slats running vertically. Closeboard fence panels comes fully constructed and ready to use immediately.

What does Pressure Treated mean?

The process for pressure treated timber has been applied to products used for a number of years. The key advantage of pressure treated timber is that the preservative is forced under the vacuum pressure right into the wood and therefore into its inner grain structure.

The preservative thus becomes an integral part of the wood; giving it a longer life and protection against rot.

What does Dip Treated mean?

Dip treatment means that the timber has been soaked and bathed in a protective treatment.

The dip treatment process is quicker than other invasive treatments like pressure treatment, but may need repeat treatment by brush or spray to maintain protection.
