Panels Blogs

Two of the most popular styles of fence for a garden are panels and palisade (also called picket) fencing. So which of these would be best for your garden?

Panels are available in a number of different styles and heights making them a versatile choice. Closeboard panels are strong and, if pressure treated, will last for a very long time. Panels are also relatively quick and easy to put up using either concrete slotted or timber posts. They are ideal for terraced gardens where privacy is important, and they don’t have gaps so keep pets in other animals out. Panels aren’t as good in particularly windy spots as they catch the wind and can be damaged.

Palisade on the other hand is ideal in a windy location as the gap between the pales allows the wind to go through. It’s a more open and traditional design so works well in rural gardens where you want to be able to see out and don’t have to worry so much about privacy.

In the end, it's simply down to which style of fence you like the look of best, and what you think will suit your home the best.

Deck Panels

A great decking idea for new decking or to enhance your existing deck is to use deck panels to surround the decking. All of our metal deck panels will add style to your garden, as well as providing practical railing. We stock two main types of metal panels, those which are suitable for fixing to a metal bolt down post and those which can be screwed to timber posts and hand rails. There is a selection of different styles to suit all tastes!

The screw fix panels are available in two elegant designs and come in a pack of four 280mm wide pieces, which will create an 1130 (W) x 770mm panel when fixed to the timber posts. The bolt down panels, which are available in three stylish designs, come in one piece that measures 1130 (W) x 813mm.

All of these panels are zinc plated, powder coated and are available in black and silver. For more decking ideas and expert advice visit our project centre or one of our eight branches today.
