Be creative with veggie beds

Grow your own is continuing to gain in popularity, the benefits of having fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs readily available in your garden are hard for many to resist. While vegetable beds serve a great purpose, but they can also be an attractive and interesting feature in their own right. Cut new sleepers to create angular, individually shaped vegetable beds to keep things interesting.

Canning

Once you start to reap the rewards of growing fruit and veg, don’t just pick the produce and eat it straight away. Grow different fruits to make home made jams or interesting salsa dips, store pickled veg in a jar, or keep a selection of dried herbs to add to oils or stock. 

Vertical gardening

Growing plants up from the ground, rather than out, using trellises, arbours and walls has become increasingly popular among those with small outdoor spaces, although bigger gardens can benefit too. Vertical growing will add a new dimension and level of interest to your garden, and using vertical structures will maximise the planting potential in the space you have. By growing plants up a trellis fixed to the wall of your house or garage, you can create a seamless transition between a building and your garden.

A little bit about lattice design

Lattice design is prominent in Asia and can be made from wood, stone or metal. Lattice design can be used as window or room divider. Lattice design windows are good for letting a mixture of sunlight and cool air enter a room, and at the same time casting lovely intricate patterned shadows.
