Waney Lap Panels

Waney lap fence panels otherwise known as overlap panels, larch or larchlap, are made using waney edged slats that run horizontally with a good overlap within in a strong frame, with multiple vertical battens to hold them in place, giving additional strength, more than some of our competitors.

Lap fence panels are suitable for many domestic fencing applications, giving privacy and demarcation at a modest cost. These fence panels are a very popular type of screen fence often used in back gardens and other outside spaces. Waney Lap Panels are considered an easy DIY fencing option along with our associated products

Waney lap fence panels from AVS are available dip treated or pressure treated. Pressure treated panels are lighter in colour and will generally last longer than dip treated because the treatment reaches deeper into the timber.

What are your options?

Lap panels are available in heights of 900mm, 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.65m, right up to 1.8m (3ft, 4ft, 5ft, 5ft 6in and 6ft) and are backed by guarantees of 10 or 15 years, depending on treatment level, against deterioration from the effect of exposure to moisture called rotting.

How should they be used?

Using panels is a quick and easy option when erecting garden fencing, as all you need to do is dig the foundations for the fence posts, concrete in using a ready mixed compound like post mix and attach the fence panels using nails. We would recommend also fixing a gravel board to the bottom of the fence. This will help the waney lap fence panels last longer as the bottom will protected from ground dampness.

The initial capital cost is the lowest of all solid screen fences available. When constructing the waney lap fence, cutting the last panel to length to fit into the space is fairly straightforward and easy for the inexperienced fence builder or DIY enthusiast.

Lap fence panels can be erected using concrete or timber posts. Gravel boards are optional and most frequently used with concrete posts.
