Show off Your Mo-gress and Get Involved with Movember 2014

This year, in support of Movember, the team at AVS Fencing Supplies are looking forward to wearing our moustaches loud and proud.

By supporting the event we are hoping to raise important funds for the charity whilst having a little fun at the same time…

So, what is Movember?

If you’re not sure what all this moustache fuss is all about, let us fill you in. Movember is an annual event which began in Australia in 2003 to raise awareness for prostate cancer and other health issues for men.

Movember spreads lots of fun and encourages men to grow magnificent moustaches during the month of November to help raise awareness for the charity. Their vision is to ‘have an ever lasting impact on the face of men’s health’. Their goals are to be fun, stay accountable, care for others, and create a remarkable experience for their Mo Bros and Sistas.

Moustaches

The charity hopes to achieve the following results with the campaign…

  • Funding for the Movember Foundation’s men’s health programmes
  • Conversations about men’s health that lead to awareness of men’s health risks and support for them to take action
  • Men suffering from male-related cancers will have the treatment and care they need
  • Men will be supported to stay mentally healthy and address any problems early
  • Men with mental health issues are not discriminated against
  • It’s a great time to build a strong community for a good cause while inspiring others, which is why we want you to join in with us on this joyous journey…

Now pay attention because we moustache you a question...

Do you want to get involved in Movember? Of course you do! We want you to send us pictures on social media of either your mo-gress (growing your moustache) or you showcasing the finished result. And of course, if you are a women you are welcome to send in your best fake moustache pictures (unless you can grow your own!)

    The Judge

Our very own member of staff and proud owner of an impressive moustache himself, Marc Ferris will be judging your ‘taches and deciding whose is the most beautiful of them all. The lucky winner of the competition will win a special prize.

If you want to also get involved directly with the charity, you can visit www.movember.com and get more details on the Movember rules and how to get the Movember sponsor form.

Keep your Movember Moustache Looking Marvellous

Here at AVS, our team are taking good care of our Movember ‘taches, keeping them preened and polished all day long.

What we want to know is, are you doing the same?

Here are some handy tips on how to keep your moustache in tip-top this shape this month…

  • Clean it

  • Use face wash or scrub and thoroughly clean your ‘tache. Doing this at night with warm water will keep the hair and the skin underneath nice and fresh.

  • Tame it

  • One of the key ways of getting your moustache looking right is to train the hairs to grow in the right direction. You can do this by using a moustache comb regularly, training the hairs outwards or downwards, depending on the look you’re going for.

Using a wax is also a good way of making sure your moustache stays looking sharp. Warm up the wax between your thumb and finger and spread over the hair, starting at the centre and working your way outwards.

  • Trim it

  • Pesky stray hairs that start growing down your lip can be trimmed with nail scissors or your choice of electric trimmers.
