Discover the Secret - RHS Secret Garden Sundays

Have you heard about the RHS Secret Garden Sundays? Held on the first Sunday of each month through April to September, the fun and games have already begun. However there is still a chance to get involved with all the action at the next Secret Garden Sunday which is happening on 7th September.

So what exactly are Secret Garden Sundays?

They are a series of RHS shows, perfect for new gardeners and others that want to gain handy tips and advice from various gardening experts. Secret Garden Sundays are a great platform to learn tips from top florists, witness helpful cooking demonstrations, and take part in gardening and craft workshops.

Where can I find the next show?

The RHS Secret Garden shows have previously been held at two of the RHS horticultural halls in London. The next show happening on 7th September will be at RHS Lindley Hall, Vincent Square, London SW1P and you can catch it from 10am-4pm.

What to expect

You can look forward to an allotment, described as beautiful and contemporary, which has been designed and built by Jamie Butterworth, RHS Wisley Trainee and Young Hort director, alongside Former Wisley Trainee, Ben Jones.

If you’re new to gardening and want to learn how to grow and maintain a vegetable plot or allotment, this show is the place to do it. You can also participate in the planting scheme of herbs, vegetables and other crops, as well as enjoy quirky features such as the scent-releasing herb carpet.

Special features include a terrariums workshop and flower arranging workshop, as well as the opportunity to make floral drawings and crochet your own flowers. The Growing together club, provided by the RHS Horticultural Advisor team will also be on hand to teach you how to plant your own crocus bulbs ready for flowering in spring.

Want even more?

There will be a ‘talks’ programme which features talks on topics such as simple veg growing, brewing, kitchen gardens and early autumn foraging.

There will also be new exhibitors at the event, including Plantbase, fruit jerky makers Snact, floral artist Emma Hardicker and Grays and Feather - the sparkling wine specialists.

John Cullen Gardens, Wild Co Organics, the Wee Tea Company, Hiver Beers and Bath Soft Cheese are among the regular exhibitors at the Secret Garden Sundays shows so there will be plenty of inviting stalls to take a look at while you are there.

If you are already an RHS member your entry to the show will be free. For non-members, tickets are £5 and are available on the door. Take a look at the RHS website for further details.

If you can’t make the show on 7th September, don’t worry! Fortunately there will be a Christmas special on November 2nd for you to join in with. The festive theme will include a Santa’s grotto, delicious food, Christmas shopping and lots more to look forward to.

If you are planning to attend the RHS Secret Garden Show on Sunday, let us know what you are looking forward to the most. We hope you enjoy!
