The APL Awards 2015 are really not far away now. Taking place on Friday 13th March at The Brewery in Central London, the Association of Professional Landscapers Awards recognise the standard of landscaping carried out by APL registered members.
Since 1995, the Awards have promoted the commitment members make to providing high quality landscaping to their customers.
Why win an award?
There are lots of benefits to winning an APL Award, including coverage in trade and consumer press, increasing team morale, and gaining a better reputation for your company. It’s a cost effective way of marketing yourself to prospective clients as it costs only £25 to enter and you have the chance to win thousands of pounds worth of advertising.
Who can win an award?
The categories for the awards suit a mixture of different businesses. There are categories aimed at businesses with lower turnovers as well as for larger businesses with higher turnovers. To help probationary members of the APL get involved, two new categories have also been created.
Categories are also available to Affiliate and Associate Members for their collaboration with APL Registered Members. Additionally, the Community Garden Awards have been created to promote the work the APL do for their local communities.
The APL Awards added a free preliminary entry stage to make the awards simpler to enter. This involves emailing details of your project alongside a few photos and then waiting for the judges to look and give feedback. This preliminary stage however is now closed.
In the lead up to the APL Awards, the shortlist has been announced. The companies that have been shortlisted fall under categories such as, ‘Project Value under £10,000’, ‘Hard Landscaping’, and ‘Rising Star’. You can find the full list of shortlisted entries on the official website.
The entries were deliberated on by this year’s judges, including James Steele-Sargent from Arun Landscapes, Sorrel Everton from Gardens Illustrated, and Richard Barnard from Hilliers Landscapes.
Bob Sweet, ex RHS Head of Garden Judging and judge at this year’s APL Awards, has commented on how encouraging it is to see so much landscaping talent within the APL, and consequently within the UK. He says that we can be proud of our gardening heritage in Britain as well as the practical landscaping skills so many in this country possess.
He also adds how he feels these awards look at all aspects of landscaping, from choosing materials to making cost effective decisions.
What do shortlisted entrants receive?
As recognition of their achievement, entrants receive a logo and are mentioned in the APL Awards 2015 Showcase brochure. They will also receive a certificate on the day of the Awards.
Award winners will be presented with their award at the ceremony and their scheme details and photo will be publicised in the APL Awards Showcase brochure and wider media.
